Grants for three crucial food projects
Three crucial food projects have been substantially backed by Utilita Giving - with two purchasing brand-new vans through grants from the charity.
The Big Difference in Southampton now owns an all-electric vehicle, which will be used to redistribute donated produce across the SO postcode.
Durham and Sunderland Foodbank also has a new van to help reach more vulnerable people in the Northeast.
Both purchases were fully covered by Utilita Giving grants.
Alongside this, the charity has sponsored Huddersfield Town Foundation’s new Breakfast Club van, covering a significant amount of the scheme’s yearly costs.
This Breakfast Club initiative has delivered free food and nutrients to more than 40 Kirklees schools over the past 11 years.
Keira Meadus from Utilita Giving said:
“Utilita Giving is always keen to support like-minded organisations and there is a real synergy between us and these three incredible projects – supporting the vulnerable is at the heart of everything we do.
“There is no denying just how crucial food donation schemes are across the UK, particularly at the moment, so it’s an honour to be able to support in such a way.”

Dr Sanjay Mall, Chief Executive at The Big Difference in Southampton, said:
“This is by far the biggest and most generous donation we have ever received.
“The van will have an exceptionally positive impact on our operations moving forward and it is our first proper asset, which is a crucial step in our journey to reaching more people.
“I’ve been blown away by the support from Utilita Giving since we started working together at the beginning of this year, and I look forward to continuing our venture.”
