Helping Hand Fund

The fund is currently open to Utilita Energy legacy credit customers only to provide a grant to help clear or decrease energy debt. The debt must apply to your primary residence and must be an active energy account supplied by Utilita.

Who can apply for a grant from the Helping Hand Fund?

Only Utilita legacy credit customers are eligible to apply for a grant from the Helping Hand Fund, however for the grant to be sustainable, all applicants will be required to switch to a Smart Meter in Prepay mode to be considered for the grant. Applicants must meet the following criteria.

Have an existing energy debt.

Live in England, Scotland or Wales.

Has not previously received a grant from Utilita Giving under the Helping Hand Fund in the last three years.

Please note: Proof of income will be required at the point of application; this will be considered alongside household outgoings to determine if you are in or at risk of fuel poverty.

Utilita Giving is interested in funding applications where the applicant can show a sustainable position moving forward. We believe it’s rarely in a person’s best interest to seek a debt write-off, without dealing with the underlying problem of a deficit budget. Due to this we require that any successful applicants have a Smart Meter installed and also commit to having a debt repayment plan in place.
